Oppo A58 is an entry-level mid-budget smartphone with some intriguing characteristics. We call it “4G” because there is a 5G version of it as well, which isn’t officially available in Bangladesh. The first thing is that we think just about anyone will like its design. The body is made of plastic, but the back part has a matt finish. It doesn’t attract fingerprints because of it. However, the large camera module has a glossy finish where you may see visible fingerprints during rough or outdoor usage, etc. But let’s take a moment to appreciate this one of a kind Oppo design that looks stylish, tasteful. The hole-punch screen has 86.6% screen to body ratio and the bottom bezel doesn’t look too much. There is no screen protection, but we got an IP54 splash resistant body.
The display size is 6.72-inch, and that is large. The resolution is Full HD+. There is just a regular 60Hz refresh rate, which is surprising. You’d expect at least a 90Hz screen for this price. It is still smooth enough for a fine Oppo UI optimization. The screen technology is IPS LCD and an AMOLED panel would have been better. Still, it’s acceptable. Under sunlight, visibility should be okay with its 680 nits max. Brightness. You can expect splendid image quality with its 50 MP rear camera minding its cost. The video recording option is FHD 1080p@30fps without any stabilization. But the quality should be able to please you. The 8 MP selfie taker is a very standard type and you could expect it to be a bit better. Still, for the budget, you can’t complain much.
A MediaTek Helio G85 chipset is rocking its performance area. Many phones will offer you a Helio G99 chipset at this price and we recommend you not to settle for less than that if you are a dedicated mobile gamer. The Helio G85 here can handle gaming pretty well, but we are talking about value for money. An impressive fact about this device is that it has exceptionally good battery backup (between one and a half to two days backup for regular usage) and around 7 hours screen-on-time. The charging time is also fair with its 33W charger. Another possessive side of this phone is its loud and clear stereo sound system.
