Xiaomi Redmi 12C is a simple-looking smartphone with a rather classic waterdrop V-Notch screen. It appears in a few pleasant colors. The body is made of plastic and there is no in-built screen protection or any kind of splash or dust resistance, which is common for the cost. The chin bezel is fairly thick. It has a typical 60Hz HD+ screen in a larger 6.71-inch size. 500 nits peak brightness is good for indoor usage but you may feel a bit lower brightness under sunlight.
Its 50 MP rear camera can capture better quality pictures than you may think. Photos in good daylight conditions look crispy, with a lot of color and details. The low light results are very average, though. The night mode can give you slightly better images, but still not good enough. Its 5 MP selfie taker has a strong face smoothening tendency, and the quality is mediocre. If you value selfies, do not choose this device. Video recording has up to 1080p@30fps resolution option with cameras on both sides. Quality is okay and you can hardly expect any better for this budget. A 10W charger is given with the 5000 mAh big battery. Charging time is very long and an 18W charger would have been more suitable. Nevertheless, you can expect about a day and a half backup with one full charge.
Performance section is where the phone shines. A Helio G85 chipset by MediaTek and is well-appreciated at a lower budget. Helio G85 and Helio G88 performance are very similar. So, the user should be satisfied with the Xiaomi 12C gaming experience. However, we suggest that you pick the 6/128 GB model because you may feel lag with the 4 GB model. It runs on Android 12 and an Android 13 update is available. Its UI is not the smoothest. This could be because of a lack in the software section. The fingerprint sensor is back-mounted on this mobile and there is no USB Type-C. So, overall, there are a few fine advantages in this gadget but also some proper downsides.
